Rosalind Franklin, British scientist who contributed to the discovery of the molecular structure of DNA, a constituent of chromosomes that serves to encode genetic information. Her colleague, continued her research and went on to win the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1982.
‘Strive for progress, not for perfection'
Rosalind house are known as the ‘Gold’ house wearing gold badges and t-shirts for house competitions. The house song is ‘We are the champions’. Rosalind house team are local to the school and understand the Skelmersdale culture. The house and tutor are STEM based subjects with links to Science and Technology subjects. We have 6 tutor groups within the house including an attendance form which is tailored intervention aimed to improve students attendance at Lathom.
Best House attendance for 2016-2017, Rosalind students have been an integral part in the business enterprise success. A former Rosalind student gained top marks at GCSE level. Many Rosalind students represent and succeed in extra-curricular activities across the district.
Raised over £600 for Children in Need & Zak Taylor Fund, the house team have built up an excellent relationship within the local community working closely with many businesses including the Co-Operative bank leading former students to be offered full time roles.
