Mrs K Watson
Spanish is a one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. We believe that English is simply not enough. We cannot understand the world in English, we need to be aware as never before of other languages and of the ways in which they identify and represent their cultures. It’s fun because you find out about other people and cultures and knowing a language makes you more employable. Modern Languages are always sought after by employers and even the top universities.
In years 7 and 8 all students study Spanish for 3 lessons a fortnight and have the option to continue to continue in year 9.
Students study three modules per year that each incorporate a range of the four skills in MFL (listening, speaking, reading and writing)
These modules include, identity, free time, school, home, holidays, and food.
In At KS4 pupils build on the knowledge gained at KS3. We follow the Edexcel GCSE syllabi. Students consolidate and enhance their knowledge of fundamental grammar points and structures, as well as covering topics from the GCSE specification.
Students study five key themes:
The GCSE is a linear examination and all four skills are examined separately. The examinations take place at the end of Year 11 with equal weighting.
Listening – 25%
Reading – 25%
Speaking – 25%
Writing – 25%
We are proud of the subject results and the resilience and confidence that we see in our students
